“Is there such a thing as Europe and if so how many?”
The 2013|14 Topic of the Year ‘Zukunftsort: EUROPA’ at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, in cooperation with interfilm Berlin, the Deutsche Kinemathek, the Film and Television University ‘Konrad Wolf’ (HFF) Potsdam and filmArche, called on film-makers throughout Europe to participate by submitting films for the competition “EUROPE: UNLIMITED”. More than 350 films about Europe have been submitted. Twelve of them were selected to be discussed on 13th and 14th November 2014 at the Forum “EUROPE: UNLIMITED”, at which Europe related topics of relevance got debated between academia and the public sphere. Highpoint of the event was the award ceremony on 14th November, which anounced the three winners of the competition.
The Winners are:
1st Prize – 2500 €: MINIYAMBA – WALKING BLUES, Director: Luc Perez, France / Denmark, 14:30 min – more
2nd Prize – 1000 €: DIE KAKERLAKE, Director: Stephan Ganoff, Germany, 17 min – more
3rd Prize – 500 €: 37°4 S, Director: Adriano Valerio, France, Italy, 12 min – more
Prior to the Forum in mid-November 2014 we invited you to discuss several FILMS ONLINE, which are still online. Furthermore we have compiled some scenes of the short film FORUM in November to give you an insight of the lively debates within this two days.
We hope our selection prompts you and thank all partners, film makers and involved persons, which made “EUROPE: UNLIMITED” possible!
